At the edge of scientific inquiry we often learn from the most unlikely opportunities. Motion Capture – the technology that wowed audiences with the original release of THE MATRIX in 1999 is now leading the way in understanding crowd dynamics and the development of a new generation of micro air vehicles inspired by biological flight.

Join CDI’s Nick Hristov as he engages the audience in a lively, pre-film talk which sheds light on the obscure connections between film technology, millions of bats, and the science of movement. Event begins at 7:30 p.m. on April 17 at a/perture cinema in downtown Winston-Salem.

While our region hunkered down under a snowy blanket last week, CDI ideology shined brightly at the College Art Association Conference in Chicago. (CAA is the most prestigious and competitive forum for the dissemination of art production and research.) There, Interim Director Scott Betz led a session emphasizing the benefits of collaboration and bringing into focus the artistic language of innovation, creativity, and collaboration.
